Aaron Harper’s Barmy Army had a slow start coming off of a cup win the previous week, going behind within 20 minutes after a counter attack from a Dorkinian throw deep in the opposition’s half. The 6’s kept fighting and had some good chances before finally levelling up. James Deeks played a long ball into James Armstrong who flicked it on to Dan Linford who’s first chance was saved by the keeper before rebounding off Dan into the Tiffinian goal.

With the score level at half time there were a couple of changes going into the second half. A rowdy Tiffinian start and a bobbly pitch meant Dorkinian’s we’re struggling to play their usual passing football. Some good work from Levi up top and the desire from the rest of the team to get forward and join him lead to a few Butterly free kicks. With one nearly leading to a chance, another hitting the bar and somehow not crossing the line after a goal line scramble that Tiffinian’s couldn’t clear it was the third that brought some real success. A good effort was saved by the keeper but straight into the path of Russ Walker who did well to make sure he didn’t miss another chance and finished well to score his first goal ever.

With Dorkinian’s now in the lead the home team grew frustrated and piled on the pressure. A goal line clearance from Rich and some resolute defending meant Dorkinian’s looked like they were going to get all 3 points and with the last kick of the game Jacob Bennett scored a fantastic goal with a first time finished into the bottom he left the keeper with no chance.
