A wonderful team effort from the 4s saw them post their biggest win of the season, with a 6-0 thrashing of Wokingians.

Both sides started off slowly, on a pitch that was just about thawed following the recent freezing conditions. Players took time to adapt to the conditions, which saw members of both sides looking like they were auditioning for Dancing on Ice.

The Dorkinian’s defence stood resolute against a barrage of attacks, with Mark Sherlock commanding in front of the back four and Dave Williams showing there's plenty of life left in the old dog.

The deadlock was broken shortly before the half time whistle, as a through ball by Brad Cannon was sliced by a Wokingians defender and Mattie Howlett raced through and calmly put it past the goalkeeper’s outstretched arms.

On the resumption, Wokingians started the stronger until a clearance from Ben Simpkins allowed Harry Brookmyre to capitalise on the defence’s lapse in concentration and slotted it in near post for a 2-0 lead. Soon after, Dan Condon scored his first league goal for Dorkinians with a powerful drive from 18 yards which the goalkeeper couldn’t stop from hitting the back of the net. The fourth Dorkinians goal was courtesy of a mazy run from winger Howlett, which resulted in him being scythed down in the penalty area. Howlett dusted himself down and converted the penalty.

Wokingians had no answer to the wave after wave of attacks from the yellow and green, and soon enough their net was found. This time, a rather scrappy affair in the 6 yard box between Brad Cannon and three Wokingians players. Cannon took four attempts, three whilst on his backside, to finally get the ball over the line.

With only a few minutes to go, Ben Simpkins rounded off a man of the match display with an uncontested header from a James Ellenger corner to make it 6-0 to Dorkinians.

Back to back wins for the 4s see them climb off the bottom of the table, with fourth placed Wandsworth Borough the visitors to RH4 next Saturday.
