A mix of youth and experience made the trip to Warlingham on Saturday, as the 4th XI took on the John Fisher's first string.

On paper it was always going to be a tough game against a team who had quite clearly played together for some time, and it wasn't long before they opened their account direct from a free kick. A second came ten minutes later after a defensive lapse failing to deal with a long ball, however it ODs hit back immediately when Alex Campbell volleyed home with his shin from a wonderful defence splitting pass by Dec Cassidy. 2-1 and ODs were back in it. The quality of John Fisher's team work undid the young defence they put three more on the board before half-time.

A half-time formation and personnel change at half time looked to consolidate, with Beardo taking his place in the central of defence to marshal the trio of 16 year olds around him. A 4231 formation provided stability at the back, but also gave the attacking players a chance to support lone striker up front.

Within 15 minutes of the restart, the yellow and greens had scored twice through the aformentioned Horne, ably assisted by Henry Hill following sterling work from another 16 year old, Drew Oram, down the right wing. 5-3 and ODs had got the home side worried.

ODs were causing problems down both flanks with Oram and Cassidy craving possession and suddenly John Fisher were on the back foot. Unfortunately a collision at a corner left Ben Hobbs injured and unable to continue, thus unbalancing the formation. Fisher sensed this and went for the jugular. Three further goals put the result beyond any doubt, and the final whistle sounded with Fisher 8-3 winners.

Despite the result, there were many positives, none more so than the four 16 year olds, Seth Wallace, Cameron Smith, Jack Fisher and Drew Oram, who can be proud of their performance against a far more experienced side and didn't let the opposition show boating and bullying tactics faze them.
