Wonderful victory for the 2s, as they make it two from two

Football is fun isn't it? There is nothing better than meeting your pals on a Saturday, running around a field for 90 mins & beating a few guys that you've never met before. We did that on Saturday. With three goals to be precise. Here's how it happened.

The mood was high from last week’s extra time winner & it transpired on to the pitch in the first half. Despite a couple of early chances from City of London, resulting in a few good saves by James Whitmarsh, there was an air of superiority throughout the Dorkinian's side which soon was realised in the score line. Ben Rogers latched on to a weak pass from their centre back, before tearing a hole in the defence with his pace & shuffle, wriggling into the box before delicately sneaking the ball into the inside of the far post. Despite Dorkinian's domination of the game it remained one nil at the interval.

There was an element of Dorkinian’s control throughout, with the back four toying with the lonely City of London striker. Playing in from side to side & absorbing every remote attack from the opposition. The midfield dominated once more, keeping possession & starting attacks with their range of passes. The wingers drove the play forward with incisive runs, pinning back the full backs & allowing space in the middle for Sanders & Black to link up. The pressure was building and the second goal finally came from a high, calculated clearance from Stables, dropping down to Black who showed a touch of class to create an opportunity from nothing & finish.

At two-nil the game was beyond doubt, however the cutting edge that has been lacking in the league campaign so far was re-established by a third goal for the home side. A rare corner for City of London was headed clear to Richardson on the edge of the Dorkinian's box, he poked the ball to Stables to burst free of his centre back entrapment. A rare glimpse into his past career as the fastest man in Dorking got the crowd off their feet, burning past the overwhelmed defender in a fifty yard sprint before chipping into Black's feet who finished with aplomb.

City of London were demoralised & defeated. A poor, sock ripping & blood drawing challenge on Morley's leg was the only fight that City of London showed all day, souring the afternoon with its recklessness. Nonetheless the full time whistle blew, Dorkinian’s win two on the bounce & the clean sheets keep on coming.
