In their third outing in seven days, Dorkinians First Team played out a stalemate against Wandsworth Borough in the SAL Senior Division I.

Despite the gap in the league standings, the home team were well aware of the reality of the challenge, with Borough unbeaten in four and very much regaining momentum in their relegation scrap.

Despite the unforgiving match schedule, Dorkinians started strongly and took the lead midway through the first half through a Sam Rowley wonderstrike. Cutting in off the right hand side, Rowley unleashed his shot that nestled in the far corner to give the opposition goalkeeper no chance.

As expected, Borough rallied, and through two smart finishes almost found themselves in the lead going into the half. Fortunately for Dorkinians, an uncleared long throw found its way onto arriving head of the Jonny Walton to equalise.

In the second period the visitors sat deeper, looking to protect their point and strike on the counter. This afforded Dorkinians far more passages of possession with the midfield beginning to dominate led by man of the match Tan King. As the minutes ticked away a number of chances fell Dorkinians way, with a string of dangerous crosses going agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock.

Unfortunately for the home side no killer blow could be landed and both teams were made to settle for a point. As the season enters its denouement, Dorkinians face-off against title rivals Hammersmith at Pixham Lane next Saturday before the Easter Break.
