Dorkinians travelled to Merton FC of the Southern Amateur league to begin their defence of the AFA Surrey and Kent Senior Cup.
This brought together two long established amateur clubs in a game of excellent quality with Dorkinians ultimately running out 3-1 winners.
Slow to start, Dorkinians went 1-0 down, which seemed to galvanise them as they slowly took the initiative against a competitive Merton side.

A beautifully delivered through ball saw Ollie Wayne finish clinically and with Tom Neville leading the line cleverly openings were created.
An audacious goal from Matt Evans showing close skills in the box and an equally audacious direct free kick from Tom Deeks sealed a good afternoon's work for a maturing Dorkinians side.
