Next up in the hot seat is hot shot Rhys Bolt. The love child of Whitmarsh and Usain, ThunderBolt had a handful of first team games in his first year of Senior Football. Over to Rhys:

“I joined Ashcombe School quite late in year 7, and played for Dorking Wanderers at first as I didn’t make many friends beyond my tutor group. Once I’d met Brad and Callum and those boys, I decided to move to Dorkinians. I played for Dorkinians for a couple of seasons before Senior Football, and Dave Williams was our coach.
One of my first games in Senior football was against Wokingians in pre-season. I was playing for the 2s, and scored a free-kick from outside the box. That happens quite regularly though…

I think I prefer Senior Football to Junior Football. I was in the 1st team squad for their first game of the season. It was a lot more “professional” than playing junior football, and I really liked how it felt more serious right through from the warm-up. One of my highlights of this season was playing in the Surrey Premier Cup against Godalming. We played at their ground under floodlights, and the pitch was unbelievable compared to normal. We beat them 3-1. I got the last 20 minutes. I nearly scored too. The ball flashed across the goal and I was so close to getting on the end of it. I was gutted. Was I nervous? Nah, I don’t get nervous about football.

I work at Beaverbrook Golf Course on Saturdays, so don’t get to spend as much time in the Clubhouse as I would like. There was one weekend this season where I was on holiday so missed the game. I wasn’t working that evening though, so came straight from holiday to the Clubhouse which was great. I feel like all of the young lads feel welcome, and nobody feels awkward in the Clubhouse or during games. Over the next few years, I would really like to play for the 1s and 2s in most games. Thanks to everyone for making me feel welcome though.”
